Richard J. Mangi is originally from New York, where he graduated from Cornell University College of Arts and Science and S.U.N.Y. Downstate Medical Center summa cum laude. His post graduate medical training included internship and residency in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital, staff associate at the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, and fellowship at Yale Medical School. After his training he joined the full-time faculty of Yale Medical School, and then for over twenty years was Chief of Allergy, Rheumatology and Infectious Disease at the Hospital of Saint Raphael. He has also maintained a private practice in the greater New Haven area since 1974. He is a clinical associate professor of medicine at Yale Medical School.

Dr. Mangi is president of Connecticut Medical Group, L.L.C.

The author of over 50 scientific publications in various books and medical journals, Dr. Mangi is also the author of two best selling books on sports training and injury.

He holds board certification in Internal Medicine, Allergy and Immunology, Rheumatology and Infectious Disease, and is a Fellow of the American Rheumatology Association and the Infectious Disease Society of America and a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He also received an M.B.A. with honors from New York University Stern School of Business.

His practice expertise includes the treatment of allergies, asthma, sinus disease, muscle and joint problems, complicated infections and travel medicine. He has also written and lectured on medical problems of athletes, was the first medical director of the New Haven Road Race, and treats many sports-related medical problems.

Dr Mangi has been listed a “Top Doc” by Connecticut Magazine for the past eight years.

Dr, Mangi lives with his wife Johanne in North Haven. He has five children and five grandchildren. His hobbies include tennis, running, gardening, reading and writing. He is a University of Connecticut Certified Master Gardener and a State of Connecticut licensed arborist.
